***PLEASE NOTE*** Do not try printing with your cartridge completely out of ink, you could damage the printhead. Inkjet printers work by heating up a resistor inside the printhead, which heats up the ink before it is sprayed onto the paper. If there is no ink to keep these cool, it is possible to fry them.

Always refill before you are completely out of ink.

Instructions:

Important: Wear old clothes and work over newspapers or paper towels.

1. Locate the three breather holes on the side of the cartridge. (See picture, above). Using the hook tool, screw into the plug and pull it out.

2. Determine the color of ink in each chamber. This can be done by inserting a clean needle into each chamber through the vent hole.

3. Using seperate pieces of tape, tape over the two holes you aren't currently filling to keep from accidentally contaminating them with the wrong color of ink.

4. Screw the needle on to one of the syringes and draw up about 7mls of ink.

5. Slowly and gently inject the ink deeply into the internal sponge through the breather hole. Inject as deeply as possible. Keep in mind that only the empty chamber will use all of the ink. Make sure you use a different syringe for each color.

6. Set the cartridge on something (ie: a block of wood) that will allow the printhead to hang off the edge, allowing any excess ink to drip onto a paper towel. Let it set until the cartridge stops dripping. Don't allow the printhead to touch the paper towel because this will draw the ink out.

Note: If any hanging drops of ink form on the printhead, it is a good idea to blot them off immediately to prevent them from migrating up through the printhead into one of the other colour chambers. Replace the plugs in the breather holes.

Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles  - follow your printer instructions.


If necessary leave cartridge in printer for up to 24 hours.
