***PLEASE NOTE*** Do not try printing with your cartridge completely out of ink, you could damage the printhead. Inkjet printers work by heating up a resistor inside the printhead, which heats up the ink before it is sprayed onto the paper. If there is no ink to keep these cool, it is possible to fry them.
Always refill before you are completely out of ink |
1. The cap on the top of the cartridge must be removed. This can be accomplished very easily with knife. Hold the cartridge with the label facing you. Insert the blade of the knife where the cap meets the cartridge and twist. The cap should pop off very easily
2. Once the cap is off hold the cartridge so that it matches the picture. The 3 larger holes are not fill holes. The small hole in the center of the cartridge is the fill hole. In order to inject the ink you must first drill out the fill hole. To enlarge the fill hole, drill until you feel the drill go through the other side. You are now ready to inject the ink.
3. Screw a needle on to the syringe and draw up about 4 ml of ink.
4. Insert the needle through the fill hole and deeply into the hard internal sponge. Slowly inject the ink into the sponge. It is a good idea to withdraw the needle a little a few times while filling, in order to get the whole sponge filled with ink.
5. Set the cartridge on something (ie: block of wood) that will allow the outlet hole to hang off the edge, allowing any excess ink to drip onto a paper towel. Let it sit until the cartridge stops dripping. Do not allow the outlet hole to touch the paper towel Replace the cap and use some tape to seal it
Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
If necessary leave cartridge in printer for up to 24 hours.
