1. Saturate the sponge in the exit hole with ink and then tape over the exit port using electrical tape or equivalent.
2. On the top of your cartridge you will see a small circle with the word "PUSH". Peel back this portion of the cartridge label. You will find a small hole in the top of the cartridge. There is a little rubbery ball plugging this hole. Using the plug extractor, screw into the plug and pull it out. Note: when this seal is broken, some ink may leak out of the cartridge! Be prepared for this to happen!
3. Screw a needle on to the syringe and draw some ink into it. The BCI-3 and 3e black tank will hold about 20 to 25 ml's, and the BCI-6 tanks will take about 10 to 15 ml. The color tanks will take about 6ml. Make sure and use a different syringe for each color.
4. With the ink outlet facing the floor, and the fill hole on top, raise the end of the cartridge with the outlet hole on it until the cartridge is tilted about 45 degrees. Insert the needle into the fill hole, and inject as much of the ink as you can into the cartridge. It will take a little while for the sponge to soak up the ink. Stop before it spills out the fill hole or the outlet hole.
5. Seal the hole using the Green Plug. Use the pointed end of the syringe (not the needle) to push the green plug until it is seated well in the hole. Remove the tape from the exit port
Replace the cartridge and run 1-3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
If necessary, leave the cartridge in the printer for up to 24 hours.
A Refill Kit should include Ink plus the following:
1 Syringe/Blunt Needle per color
1 Green Plug per color
