HP Colour Cartridge
28,57,95,97

***IMPORTANT NOTICE*** Do not try printing with your cartridge completely out of ink, you could damage the printhead. Inkjet printers work by heating up a resistor inside the printhead, which heats up the ink before it is sprayed onto the paper. If there is no ink to keep these cool, it is possible to fry them.

Always refill before you are completely run out of ink.

Instructions: Wear old clothes and use newspapers or paper towels to work over.

1. Peel off the top label.
2. Refer to the picture, or use toothpicks, to determine which color is where. Tape over the other two chambers.
3. Screw the needle on to the syringe and draw some ink into it. The 28 & 57 cartridges will hold about 5ml, the 95 & 97 about 6ml
4. S-l-o-w-l-y inject ink into each chamber until the sponge is full. A little ink may come out the top.
5. Immediately blot away any hanging drops of ink that may form on the print head, as the ink can migrate up into an adjacent chamber and cause contamination.
6. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4, using a different syringe/needle for each color. Remove the tape once you are finished with all three holes.
7. When finished, replace the label if you wish. It will make no difference in the printing.
8. Set the cartridge on something (ie: block of wood) that will allow the printhead to hang off the edge, allowing any excess ink to drip onto a paper towel. Let it sit until the cartridge stops dripping.
Replace the cartridge and run 1-3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
If necessary, leave the cartridge in the printer for up to 24 hours.
The cartridge will print just like a new one. Even though the cartridge prints good, the ink level gauge will not read full after a refill. To reset the ink level gauge back to full, follow these instructions. **Pertains to the 28 and 57 cartridges**

6. The printer will perform an alignment page…....when finished, remove the cartridge.
7. Remove both pieces of tape (make sure there is no residual tape left on the cartridge)
